We've Got It Going On In Frisco

Without a doubt Frisco is on the verge of becoming the cultural center of North Texas. Imagine a place with one of the finest regional arts center, numerous outdoor performance venues, art festivals, galleries, a strong arts program in the local schools, and a diverse public art collection. Add to that one of the finest public park systems in the state. Then top that off with professional baseball, soccer, basketball, ample shopping, and a variety of restaurants. What you get is a community that sets its self apart from its neighbors and defines its self as a community of culture. Frisco is at a critical point in defining its own future. As a community that has grown at an amazing rate for the last 10+ years we have the unusual opportunity to define our future by what we put in place today.

The Arts of Collin County performance center grows closer to reality every day. Soon it will be a focal point for our entire regional arts community. From dance recitals to Broadway shows to evening concerts under the stars this state of the art facility will be a major boom to the cultural experience that Collin County can provide to residents and visitor alike. The question of the day is what else will we have to offer visitors when they come to see the performances at the ACC.

The Frisco Art Festival with its diverse collection of local, state and national art talent will soon attract artist and guest from all over this region inviting people to join Frisco in celebrating the arts. This Festival will enrich the lives of residents and guest alike, helping to insuring the aesthetic and economic vitality of Frisco for generations to come.

Our growing public art program will soon move into a new phase of its development. With the cooperation of the Frisco ISD plans are in the works for the creation of a state aligned curriculum for every art piece in the public art Collection. This will set the stage for docent guided tours of the public art collection providing an opportunity for our children to experience firsthand their growing collection of public art.

It is an exciting time to live in Frisco. In some ways we are at our cultural infancy. We get to be a part of Frisco's cultural development as it grows into the regional arts community that it will soon become. I for one am thankful to be a part of it.

"Who is Frisco Arts?"

Frisco Arts is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, community based organization formed by citizens and business leaders and serves as a vital agent and community partner in supporting and promoting the arts in Frisco. Frisco is a young and growing community, and Frisco Arts recognizes that the arts are an important tool for educational, economic and community development. Frisco Arts was recently designated the Local Arts Agency for the City of Frisco through a resolution by the City Council.

In 2008, Frisco Arts hosted over 300 art related events at our facility at 6827 Main Street. More than 3,000 people attended these events. In addition, we also provide grants, scholarships, and sponsorships to a variety of local art groups who bring art to the citizens of Frisco.
